Some agents especially where I work in Ontario Canada, specifically the local territories like Toronto, Mississauga, Brampton, Oakville and other areas in the GTA, are making a fortune selling real estate and yet others are literally starving for sales. Interesting fact is, this sort of thing happens in a good market and in bad markets and agents park your realty license.
So why the big difference? The way I see it, this real estate brokerage game is all about making friends who become clients and or making clients out of existing friends. Either way we need to keep our existing friends and hope they turn into buyers and sellers and we need to make clients into our buddies. Any other way can cost a fortune and no guarantees not to mention this business becoming hard work with little rewards, another reason to park your realty license.

The failure rate is very high and the actual realtors making good money is really low. This is why I am experiencing a huge trend of agents leaving the business and parking their realty license. The smart ones realize that they should keep their real estate license in full force by joining a brokerage that is in business solely for the purpose of holding real estate licences or having agents park or warehouse their licence and do it it for a small fee.
